You may find that the relative you are searching for does not have a memorial. If that is the case then please consider creating a memorial for them. Many times you will find that a memorial has already been created by a person who has no connection to the family. People that do this scan the web for obituaries, or acually walk cemeteries and document graves. These people are are frequently called memorial managers, collectors or harvesters. While most have good intentions, it is sometimes a shock to see a memorial for a loved one who may not have even had their burial or service. On the few I have discovered I have contacted the submitter, (the information is at the very bottom of the memorial) and asked to have information corrected, or in a extreme case asked it be transfered.

Steps to Add a Memorial:

• Search First: Thoroughly search the database to avoid creating a duplicate.
• Locate/Add Cemetery: Select the cemetery. If the cemetery isn’t listed, you can add it.
• Fill in Details: Enter the name, birth/death dates, and plot information.
• Add Media: Upload photographs of the gravestone, preferably with GPS coordinates.
• Alternative Dispositions: You can add memorials for cremations, burials at sea, or, if no stone exists, mark them as a Cenotaph.

Important Notes:

• Living People: Do not create memorials for living people, unless it is a “pre-need” memorial for yourself with a headstone already in place.
• Management: You become the manager of any memorial you create, allowing you to edit it later.
• Photo Policy: You can take pictures and upload them to existing memorials if they are missing.
• Transferring Management: If you need to take over a memorial, contact the current manager, or contact support if they do not respond within 30 days.
